Sneaker Bistro

You won't find these sneakers at Foot Locker! Sneaker Bistro in Patchogue retails luxury/urban streetwear and footware in a boutique atmosphere. Carrying brands like DC Life, Nike Quickstrike and Reebok Lifestyle, the products are colorful and fun - often using bright oranges, blues, reds, yellows, etc. Their exclusive sneaker collection is complimented with a few racks of t-shirts, hats and a handful of accessories. SBB didn't hold back on making the store fun - one wall displays sneakers in front of a mural - and from what we hear, they are killing the competition on LI.

Ooh La La Boutique

With two locations in Long Beach and Babylon and a third coming to Sayville, Ooh La La should be easy to find. The boutique clothing store caters to young women anywhere from high school to late 20's/early 30's. Their look is trendy and feminine with an edgy spin - and they carry brands you won't find at the mall (BB Dakota, Free People). There was a great selection of cocktail/evening dresses in the back of the store while the front displayed separates. Ooh La La also carries a selection of personal accessories such as bags, belts and jewelry.

Lealand Eve Boutique, SayvilleLong Island artist Lealand Eve Richard opened Lealand Eve, a creative and design-driven “lifestyle” and home accessories boutique in Sayville. As a contemporary specialty boutique for both women and men, Lealand Eve carries home accessories, personal accessories, gifts and bath and body items–many of which are created by individual artists, designers and smaller manufacturers.

The mix includes spirograph-inspired dinnerware from NotNeutral, housewares from designer Tord Boontje and a handful of painted tin and paper maché table lamps from Stray Dog Designs. Handmade jewelry from artists Alix Bluh and Sonya Bennet are creatively displayed on old books in a jewelry case across from a selection of personal accessories by designers Glenda Gies, Tracey Tanner and J.Fold. When it comes to bath and body, Lealand Eve chose to carry soaps from The Bubble Room and Daub & Bauble as well as a line of fragrances by CB I Hate Perfume.

Outlook Long IslandOutlook is Long Island's top magazine for the gay community since it's inception in 1999. The publication has distributed over 150,000 copies to bars, nightclubs, bookstores, health agencies and professional centers from West Hempstead to East Hampton. During the summer, the publication is delivered door-to-door on Fire Island and is read by tens of thousands of Long Island residents and visitors each year. Publisher and founder Tom Hroncich takes pride in the fact that every issue of Outlook has contained an up-to-date listed on volunteer organizations and resources for the community - completely free of charge to all the groups listed.

The founder, Tom, was motivated after traveling to other cities where there was a publication dedicated to the gay community and saw that Long Island was lacking that resource. Tom saw an opportunity and jumped on it - after six months of planning and searching for initial advertisers, the publication launched in June of 1999. The magazine covers political topics, news, health, business, religion, entertainment and relationships. Outlook is most proud of their group and organization listings, which is the most comprehensive resource on Long Island.

Outlook now has grown to the point where they are hosting the Outlook Awards, a wonderful way to recognize the excellence in the GLBT community. They give out 18 awards based on reader polling such as Volunteer of the Year, Humanitarian of the Year and Best Political Organization.
