We've all been to enough holiday parties and new years parties, but now we have something new to celebrate. Fans of Seinfield remember the 1997 Festivus episode very well - the Costanza's created a remarkable holiday that is not set on any particular day and has no rules. According to the episode, the holiday was created in reaction to the commercialization of other late December holidays. With Festivus there is no tree, gifts or fancy decorations - just a bare metal pole.

Creating a Festivus party is easy - there are no rules - and the party can be held any date in late December. The Festivus Pole is the only required decoration, which stands vertically - either hanging from the ceiling or standing in a bucket of rocks.

There are two activities associated with the holiday; The Airing of Grievances and the Feats of Strength. Its best to air your grievance anonymously on a piece of paper and have everyone read them aloud at one point. Feats of Strength are contests of endurance to find out who is the best. These tests can consist of thumb wrestling, arm wrestling or anything you can think of.

Festivus is best when you remember that there are no rules. Gather some great friends and have a blast! More can be learned about this holiday and how to throw a Festivus party at www.festivusbook.com
