You're looking for something casual on a Thursday. Maybe you want a little less scratch and a little more bang on the dance floor? Say no more, because McCoys in Commack, the smallest big bar in Suffolk County, is calling your name.

You may hear some dance or some hip-hop on a Thursday, but expect it to be combined into the "party" sound, which means anything from Papa Roach to Oasis. This mix of mentalities is hot right now with the college set, so expect a crowd 18 and over. Furthermore, Thursdays means gentlemen in free until 11pm, and ladies in for nothing until 1am. However, only people over 21 can truly reap McCoy's generous ways, as men drink free until 11, and women enjoy the same privilege until 1 in the morning...sometimes even later if the bar feels the vibe is right.

Meanwhile, McCoy's continues to cement its place as perhaps the hottest rock club on the Island. The Friday night "Venue" party brings band after band to the stage, and on "Buzz" Saturdays $30 gets you an open bar all night. Look for a cross of rock, alternative, party music, DJs and bands keeps things lively and loud.

There's an added bonus for those tobacco lovers who miss puffing at the bar in that there's a nicely sheltered area on the back deck where you can keep fairly warm, hear the music a little, and still remain true to that urge. Just do your doorman a solid and keep the hats in the car: dress code is very casual but neat.
