The Mirage Nightclub in Westbury is a must-see for anyone visiting New York for the first time. Even though the Long Island nightscene in past years was considered second-best to NYC mega-clubs, Mirage easily runs with the big boys.
The layout is past impressive, bordering on theme-park, that is, if theme parks were all as exciting and grandiose. The theme is Egyptian, with large statues and ancient architecture represented in a bigger-than-life perspective. Giant plasma TV screens run color-splashing, beat-bouncing trippy video. Look up and see the VIP’s on a second floor above you, enjoying their moment as pharaohs for the night. The dance floor will accommodate the largest parties, and the DJ’s are always stars familiar to the dance music scene, which considers Mirage a stronghold as house re-enters an underground phase.
Wednesday offers a modest weekday party that does well, regardless of its patrons need to wake-up the following day to work. Thursday is a classic club night, and it's ladies night, so the spacious parking lot will fill. The weekend begins at 4pm on Friday, with a crowded happy hour, and that crowd almost never dies down the whole night. Saturdays is the main event, so expect a line of some of the best looking people on the Island
The dress code is club neat but casual for the 21st Century, so while jeans will get you past the doorman, he will scrutinize, so leave the sneakers, workboots, hats and baggy clothes at home. Furthermore, fellas will need to bring a bit more green, as the door price is $10 for the ladies, but $15 for gentlemen.
