The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington is hosting a series of Russian films from the 60's and 70's. The films play once or twice only during the month of April and are subtitled in English. Check our events calendar on ShortListLI.com for viewing times or go to the Cinema Arts Centre website for more details.

The first film, Solaris is an epic sci-fi journey involving a scientist sent to a space station where all the crew has gone mad. The film was recently remade by Steven Soderbergh, but Cinema Arts Centre states that this version is more devastating. The Amphibian Man, the second film in the series is one of Russia's all-time box office champs about a gilled mutant.

Quite possible the most interesting sounding film of all, Ruslan and Ludmila is a two part fantasy film featuring characters such as a sorceress midget with a 50 foot beard and a demonic, hunchbacked witch as well as excellent set design. The final film in the series, 'Stalker' is another sci-fi tale about the nightmarish quest of a writer and scientist as they follow a stalker into a forbidden territory.
