Our own personal happiness is a huge deal. For me, it's something I put above everything else. For five years I was running my own graphic design business out of my home. I accomplished many things on my own that I never thought I could do; Alan Cumming was one of my clients, I did an adult website that was featured in a major motion picture and I expanded and I learned how to run a business. Overall the lack of a steady income and health insurance were not keeping me happy.

So I quit.

After moving to Long Island a year and a half ago from Brooklyn I didn't think there was much here than the prestigious Hamptons and maybe a few interesting towns in between. In my mind all the good restaurants and entertainment were about 60 miles to the west.

After a year and a half of exploring I found some great restaurants and saw some nice beaches - but I know there is more out there. ShortListLI.com is not just a listing of restaurants and bars. Establishments cannot pay more to get to the top of the list and review systems cannot be misused. There is more exploring to be done - and when I find something of interest I'll be sure to share it with you.
