One of the few traditional Japanese gardens in the northeast, this 4 acre Mill Neck, Long Island sanctuary combines several design concepts. Upon entering the garden, you will pass over the 'yari-mizu' (drawn stream) which flows down to the garden and pond. The house was brought to the garden by Ambassador Humes and is one of the central elements of the landscape. The garden itself contains a variety of evergreens and shrubs, bamboo, rocks and plank bridges. Call for scheduled tours with tea ceremony ($10, reservations required)
Fee: $5/$10 w/ tea ceremony
